Course description:

The 15th Annual Jean Monnet Dubrovnik Seminar on the topic “The EU and Trust in the Online Environment” focuses on the future of EU privacy and data protection rules which result from the balance struck in relation to public interest in the availability of information, security reasons for controlling data, and the development of the digital economy. Recently, there have been major developments in this field, including decisions of the Court of Justice, affecting individuals, companies, and States within the EU as well as elsewhere in the world. The six-day event will combine two types of activities: lectures (morning sessions) and young researchers’ presentations (afternoon). It will bring together diverse participants: well-established academics, young researchers, students, practising lawyers, judges, policy makers and NGO representatives, coming from EU countries, the Western Balkans and the USA. Their interaction will lead to new ideas and new knowledge, innovation, cross-fertilisation and the spread of European content.

* Graduate and doctoral students of the Faculty of Law – University of Zagreb may submit their Certificates of Attendence at the Jean Monnet conference to the Faculty Administration, and have the seminar recognized as part of their legal studies. The seminar is offered 4 ECTS credits. No other requirements except for their attendance is necessary.
