Course description:

The Course will cover the main aspects of geothermal energy exploration and production, especially geothermal field development. The goal of the Interactive seminar is providing the attendees, predominantly petroleum engineers with upstream background, with knowledge how to solve the specific problems of drilling and completion of geothermal wells as well as geothermal reservoir engineering and modelling. The themes of special interest will focus also on geothermal wellbore design and construction: integrity, high temperature instrumentation, technology of converting depleted hydrocarbon wells to geothermal ones, well testing, well stimulation, drilling and completion fluids, well cementing, corrosion and scaling issues. The course participants will be able to discuss and analyse the practical engineering problems from their experience in an interactive way, in order to find the optimized solutions.
