The course is studying new developments in the philosophical analysis and understanding of religion and religious phenomena. Especially new theories in philosophy of religion are discussed. In the year 2017, when 500 years of the Reformation will be commemorated, the study course will especially concentrate on the subject of “Reformation and Freedom”, discussing the contribution of the Reformation in the 16th century for the formation of the idea of freedom in the history of the European mind and for its realisation, but as well generally the affinity to or opposition against the idea of freedom in religion.
Course Language: German (required is at least a passive knowledge of German; under thiscondition papers may be presented in English as well)
